WEE school Easter Egg Hunt

The girls had their Easter eggs hunt at school today. All of the kids got new Easter baskets this year. Hobby Lobby had such a cute selection! Lauren picked out a pink ladybug basket and Sammy picked out a pink seaturtle basket. Sammy and Lauren had a blast hunting for eggs! They had to find all of the eggs with their name on them. Their classes hunted for eggs at separate times (wa hoo!). Lauren's class went first at 10:30.Lauren doesn't know how to read her name yet, so I had to help her find the eggs with her name on them.Lauren's class of all girls!!
Lindsay, Sofia, Taryn, Hannah, Ashtin, Lauren, Izzy & EllaAfter their egg hunt, they got to eat a yummy lunch, decorate a cookie, get their faces painted like the Easter bunny and play pin the tail on the bunny. They all had a great time!Sammy's class went on their egg hunt at 11:30. Sammy does a great job reading her name so she was able to find her eggs on her own! She can also read: Lauren, Austin, Emmye and sometimes mommy. Emmye, Karsyn, Brianna, Izzy, Ansley, Megan, Sammy, Noah C., Noah P., Lexi, Anna & AaronAfter Sammy's class had their egg hunt, they got to eat a yummy lunch and decorate a cookie. The girls had a fun day!

I don't want rice on my burger!

Sammy is so funny! Russell left for Houston today and is coming home tomorrow. So I decided to take the kids to McDonald's for dinner after Sammy's dance class. I asked Sammy what she would like to eat...chicken nuggets or a cheeseburger. She replied, "I want a cheeseburger. But I don't want any rice on it." She is talking about the little onions McDonald's puts on their burgers. I told her okay and ordered her a cheeseburger with light ketchup only. Of course, half the time at McDonald's they get the order wrong so they put onions on her burger. She opened up her cheeseburger and said, "Mommy, I said I didn't want any rice on my burger!"

Rollerskating

Russell and I took the kids rollerskating around the neighborhood. They all had a blast!! Austin is a pro skater! Sammy can do a little bit on her own and Lauren really needs us to be beside her most of the time. The funniest thing was Lauren trying to get up after she fell. She kept slipping and falling while trying to get up! It was kinda like watching someone on ice. She finally got the idea and was able to quickly get herself up after falling. Austin was excited that daddy had his skates on too! I walked so I could take pictures.

Wait up for me daddy!!

Lauren (2 1/2 years), Samantha (4 years), Austin (6...turns 7 in one month) There is a hill in the driveway of the elementary school that Austin likes to go down. I hold my breath when he goes down it. He gets to going pretty fast! When we got home, Austin informed me that he would like some ramps. Oh my! He said ramps would be fun with his skates, skateboard and Heelies. Oh boy...we have a long road ahead of us! Austin is all boy!!

Church Easter Egg Hunt

Austin has such great Sunday School teachers (Ms. Jan & Ms. Val)!! They put together an Easter Egg hunt for the kids this morning.

Austin was very excited to show me his basket full of eggs! When we got home, he shared his candy with Sammy & Lauren.

Family Bowling Night!

Yesterday at 4:45, we met my parents, Michael, Casey, Emily and Emma at Main Event for some fun bowling! The kids were SUPER excited!! The kids had never been bowling before. Starting at 10:30 in the morning, Austin kept asking me, "Is it 4:00 yet?" He knew we were leaving around 4:00 to meet everyone and asked all day when it was time to go. The kids were so funny bowling! Here is the scoop:

Austin was a pro. Of course we had the bumpers up for all of the kids but Austin understood how to throw the ball and knock down the pins. He did a great job helping all of the other little ones! Sammy found many different ways to get the ball down the lane. She would throw it granny style, then she would lift up the ball and throw it (oops!), then she would let the ball roll of her shoulder and the cutest way was she put the ball down on the lane and kicked it like a soccer ball! (of course my camera was put up!!) She didn't want much help and was very self-sufficient.Lauren could carry the ball to the lane (and she wanted too) but she had a hard time pushing it hard enough to make it down the lane. When she pushed it, the ball would go so slllooooowwww. We had to have someone come and retrieve her balls 3 times. Austin is an awesome big brother and Sammy is a super big sister! They took turns helping Lauren push the ball. She liked having someone help her.Emma couldn't carry the ball but she sure liked giving the ball a push! When Emma's turn would come up, it would be a family affair for her to bowl. Austin, Sammy and either Uncle Casey or Aunt Emily would help Emma. Emma crossed over the foul line just about every time! She was so cute! We called her "the fouler". Russell ended up winning the game among the adults and mom was the loser...Emily and I weren't too far behind from getting the loser spot!

It is so funny when you try to take a picture of a group of people! The lady on the lane next to us was nice enough to take our picture...four times!! The first time Casey had his hand up to get Emma to look. The second time, Casey's eyes were closed. The third time, Sammy was not looking and the fourth time, Sugar was looking at Sammy. Ugh...to get the perfect picture! After bowling, we all went to Scotty P's in Allen for burgers. Dinner was yummy! We really enjoy family time and I was so glad that everyone was able to get together!

A Huge Thank You!

I went about 6 weeks without posting anything new on our blog. It was partly because I hated downloading pictures into the blog because it took FOREVER!! My friend Griff showed me how to downsize my pictures to make them download into the blog faster! WOW!! What a difference that made!! A huge thank you to my friend Griff for making my blog time less painful and more efficient!!

My goal is to update our blog at least twice a week. There is always so much going on around here that I should have plenty to say! Also, I wanted to say thank you to Jamie for emailing me and telling me to update my blog! That really got me going and now I am up to date! Whew! One more thing marked off my list. Now I have to worry about the other 99 things! ha! Oh, the life of a busy mommy...

Mom was wrong...

So when we got the 4 inches of snow on Tuesday, I told Austin, "You have better enjoy this because I think this is all we are going to get this year." And two days later I am proved wrong!! I grew up in the Dallas area and I can't remember a time when we got an accumulation of snow twice in the same week! Today is started to sleet/snow around 12:45 and by 6:30 we had 5 inches of snow on the ground!! The girls were at WEE school today and I normally pick them up at 2:30. WEE school called today at 1:30 for an early dismissal and the elementary school let out an hour early. For Austin and the girls that meant play time!! We immediately came home and got all bundled up to go outside and enjoy the winter weather once again! The girls didn't want to stay out long. Austin however stayed outside for about an hour. I had him come in for a bit and warm up then he went back outside for 2 hours! I had him put on 2 pairs of pants, 2 pairs of socks, rainboots, 2 jackets, earmuffs, a hat and gloves. He was warm and toasty! Alyssa Davis, Tyler DeLuna & Austin worked together to make a snowman. The girls took out umbrellas to keep the snow from falling on them. The snow was absolutely beautiful. HUGE snowflakes fell on the ground. The scene outside during the snowfall looked like something you would see in Colorado! I am so glad that the kids got to enjoy another day of snowball fights, snowmen and cold feet!Austin and Russell building a snowman together.
Have you ever scene such a big snowfort? I was pretty impressed!
Austin and our neighbor Josh built it. Griff & Kerrigan Servati came by asked if Austin wanted to go sledding. Autumn & Savannah Hood also went with them. They went to Joyce Godwin's house and had a blast sledding down her hill! Austin came home at 6:30 cold with red cheeks and insisted he was fine and wanted to stay outside. I convinced him to come inside, take off his wet clothes and soak his feet in some warm water. We had dinner and by 9:00 he was asleep on the couch. He had a big day!Austin and Kerrigan Servati sledding.Austin & Autumn Hood sledding.
