Fall Fun

It has been three weeks since my last post and I have so much to say and share! Ugh...time goes by so fast...and my computer is so slow! I love fall! I try to find a lot of fun things for the kids to do.

One day after school, I let Austin and Alyssa help me make "fingers" as our afternoon snack. We stuffed crescent rolls with turkey and cheese. They turned out very yummy!

I got a good recipe idea from Target on how to make witch hat cookies. They turned out really cute and the kids had fun making them. We used a chocolate cookie for the base, a Hershey Kiss and icing to hold them together.

Lauren's favorite part was the icing...forget the cookie mom!The best part about getting ready for Halloween is carving the pumpkin! My kids kept begging me to carve one and I finally said yes! Once I got the top off, I let each of the kids put their hand in to dig out all of the inside. Sammy LOVED it...not surprising to me! Austin didn't want to touch it with his hands so he put on a glove...silly boy!Lauren didn't want to put her hand in the pumpkin so she just watched and observed. You can tell she got a little bored after a while....

For the first time, I decided to wash the pumpkin seeds and bake them. Pumpkin seeds are yummy and I wanted my kids to try them. When I taught first grade, I would go to Whole Foods every Fall and buy pumpkin seeds for the kids in my class to try. So rather then take a long ride to Whole Foods, I was going to give it a try this year and bake them myself. Needless to say, I messed them up! I put WAY too much salt on them. Oh well, better luck next year!
